What I did at the ref desk today

I was late to start off and had a headache. I then helped several students freak out about the papers they have due tomorrow. One of the students is doing a five-page paper on “love.”
I ask as straight-faced as possible, “What about love?”
“Well, I”m just going to write five pages about what love is.”
“History, biology, philosophy or psychology of love?”
“Yeah, that sounds good.”

I settled on De Rougemont’s Love in the Western World because I like that book very much and a couple on biology and history of love. We also chatted about courtly love for a bit.

I talked on the phone with lynda.com and got a great deal for our library. Its $1000.00 a year per concurrent user for the entire content with off-campus accees. I’m super stoked and can’t wait to get it.

I then bantered with my colleague’s husband for a bit about my life-long love of David Bowie.

My co-worker and I went through a how-to book on historical hairstyles. We only started to scoff when we hit the 1980’s. Likely because we both had big hair too back then. All in all, it was an uneventful two hours.

Since I have my dearest love Bowie on my mind, I give you a video of his singing one of my favorites. Please do try to not get all doe-eyed and swoony. I know it is tough when so much Bowie is before you:
